Hands-on learning is learning by doing. To even imply that it is a fad is to ignore what has been taking place in education, both formal and informal, for years. Vocational education has always understood that if you want someone to learn to repair an automobile, you need an automobile to repair. If you want to teach someone to cook, you put them in a kitchen. Whoever heard of teaching someone to swim in a traditional classroom? Hands-on learning involves the child in a total learning experience which enhances the child's ability to think critically. The child must plan a process to test a hypothesis, put the process into motion using various hands-on materials, see the process to completion, and then be able to explain the attained results.

Hands-on learning is not just a fad because it enables students to become critical thinkers, able to apply not only what they have learned, but more importantly, the process of learning, to various life situations. After reading the above passages, I am in total agreement. I went to Junior Achievement as a teen and the number one premise was, "You learn by doing." I really did learn business.

I would like students to actually build first the minature solar car, then ramp up and build a full size car.

I want then to watch "Smash Lab" and see how common things that they know, are being used in new and exciting ways.

There are new things to pioneer and learn.

What Coaching Strength is a priority to me?

I feel that the coach as a data coach is the most important to me.

By having the student assesments for each class at a teachers finger tips and then being able to see how each student learns will help the teacher form how to teach the class more effectively.

The teacher can put the strengths of students together to work on actiive projects in which they will learn and grow together.

Safe haven for teachers to try new things

I like this statement because, we have created a safe haven for students but we never think to create the same situation for instructors.

Navigating the system

Even using the site map I have a problem getting back to the same sections that I thought I knew. If I am fluent in navigating the system, how is a novice going to fair?

First Impressions

One of the things that I noticed is this is welll organized, from the websites to the manuals. If I could get the assignments setup for our school district as well as this is setup, we will have very little problems with the Classroom for the Future.
